NEWS!!

April 2024: Very international month for our Group!

1.- EGU conference in Vienna (Austria)

Last Friday (19.04.24), our postdoc Ettore Fedele presented our recent work on bioaerosols carried out at the Leipzig Canopy Crane at the EGU conference. He showed how abiotic factors such as temperature and wind can affect the dynamics of bioaerosols and, more specifically, how important seasonality is in their analysis and final understanding.

We are very proud that he was able to present his work at such an international conference that brings together multiple scientific disciplines. Congratulations! 🙂

2.- Experiment at the ChAMBRe facility in Genoa (Italy)

Our group was able to use the ACTRIS Aerosol, Cloud and Trace Gas Research Infrastructure: ChAMBRe this April. Thanks to a funding obtained from the European Project EUROCHAMP2020, we were able to use this fantastic bioaerosol chamber located in Genoa (Italy).

We want to thank the whole research group of Dr. Prati for their help and hospitality in the whole process (Research group: INFN Genoa).

Now ready with many samples to process, we are eager to learn as much as possible about the effects of abiotic factors on the collected bioaerosols.  Looking forward to the results! 😌

For more details, here is a link to the instagram of the INFN Genoa research group, where our PhD student, Bhavana, has also participated to explain our research. This video was published on 22 April on the occasion of the International Earth Day 🌍 Enjoy it!

March 2024: iDiv members retreat

This Thursday and Friday (14&15), I will be part of the iDiv member retreat. There I will contribute with a talk and participate in several workshops in which the next goals of iDiv will be set. It will be a joint work of scientists from the cities of Leipzig, Halle and Jena and will take place in the wonderful Merseburg. Looking forward to it!

Merseburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Old Town

Some of my research contributions to health and the environment and also to making science understandable to the general public can be seen in the following videos:

Explanation of the Patent that describes a new protocol to detect Legionella pneumophila in the air (in Spanish).

Talk where Beatriz Sánchez Parra explains to the general public in the Barcelona Science Week (2020) how the scientists study the biological particles from the air. Event organised by: LaBiotheque (in Spanish).
